Brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon Stephen Strange loses everything after a devastating accident destroys his career. Desperate for a cure, his search for healing leads him to the hidden world of the mystic arts, where he trains under the Ancient One and discovers power beyond imagination. But mastering magic comes at a price.
Night after night, Strange is haunted by terrifying visions of his past failures and a pale figure who promises his death. When the nightmares begin spreading across the globe, tormenting millions with the very same sinister presence, Strange realizes the threat is far more than a troubled mind.
Drawn to his psychic distress, Wanda Maximoff reveals she has been plagued by the same dreams. Together, the two sorcerers search the ancient tomes of the Sanctum Sanctorum and uncover the legend of Nightmare, the former servant of the eldritch entity Shuma-Gorath who seized control of the Dream Dimension and now feeds upon humanity's deepest fears.
Casting a powerful spell upon themselves, Strange and Wanda enter the Dream Dimension as lucid dreamers, battling through surreal worlds shaped by their own guilt, grief, and insecurities. Forced to confront the failures that have defined them, they learn that true strength comes not from perfection, but from accepting the scars that make them who they are.
United against Nightmare, the pair defeat the dream tyrant and restore peace to the sleeping world. Before his defeat, however, Nightmare leaves Strange with a chilling warning: he is only the beginning. Greater beings - ancient gods and unimaginable horrors - are already aware of Earth's newest sorcerer.
Strange dismisses the threat as the desperate words of a defeated enemy.
But in the depths of Hell, another power has already begun to move. As Mephisto commands Danny Ketch to become the Ghost Rider and extinguish the world's growing hope, Stephen Strange's journey into the supernatural has only just begun.
