Amy Lou Adams (born August 20, 1974) is an American actress. Known for both her comedic and dramatic roles, she has been featured three times in annual rankings of the world's highest-paid actresses. She has received various accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards. She has been nominated for six Academy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Adams began her career as a dancer in dinner theatre, a pursuit she followed from 1994 to 1998. They made her film debut with a supporting part in the dark comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). She made guest appearances on television and took on roles as the "mean girl" in low-budget feature films. Her first major role was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Can (2002), but she was unemployed for a year afterwards. Seven years ago, Stephen Strange was a respected surgeon, but an accident took everything from him. Losing his surgical skills, Strange sought a cure. In the present day, under the tutelage of the Ancient One, Strange continues his training in the mystic arts, becoming a skilled sorcerer. He will have to use his new abilities and prove himself capable when Kaecilius, a sorcerer and lover of black magic, a former student of the Ancient One, emerges, wanting to unleash Dormammu on Earth. The confrontation reveals a much larger and more dangerous world than Strange knew, his destiny, paths to new futures, secrets of the Ancient One, and a lurking evil.
