The plot of the game Dispatch centers on the former superhero Mecha Man, Robert Robertson III, who must become a dispatcher for the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) after his suit is destroyed. His job is to manage a team of former supervillains, known as the Phoenix Program, helping them rehabilitate as they respond to emergencies around the city. The story is driven by player choices that affect the heroes' relationships, their allegiances, and the player's own quest to rebuild his suit and get revenge on the villain Shroud.
