He has a fascination with Ozaar Island and wants to prove that it exists hearing stories from his dad who also wanted to prove it existed. Members of the college board often look down on him and his students don’t take him seriously. He is adventurous, brave, smart, tough yet kindhearted. He is also a skilled gunman and a skilled martial artist. He eventually gets funding for the trip to Ozaar Island and uses the Lockwood Journal as a guide to the tree of life. Given that no one back in America respects him and that Sasha and her family friends do respect him, he decides to stay in the Jungle instead of going back home and eventually marries Sasha Morton.
