Frederick George Abberline (8 January 1843 – 10 December 1929) was a British chief inspector for the London Metropolitan Police. He is best known for being a prominent police figure in the investigation into the Jack the Ripper serial killer murders of 1888. Johnny Depp portrayed Inspector Abberline in the 2001 mystery horror thriller film, From Hell, directed by The Hughes Brothers
