Deven Christian Mack was born on April 22, 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada as Matthew Christian Heywood. He is an actor, known for Dust: An Elysian Tail (2012), Dorg Van Dango (2020) and A Fox in Space (2016).
This is inspired by the true story of a real-life, little-known American hero — Robert Smalls — who, as an enslaved person in Charleston at the height of the Civil War, pulled off the most audacious heist in history — a suicide mission if caught — by stealing his friends and family and the Confederate warship on which he served to run the naval blockade in the treacherous South Carolina waters and defect to the North.
