Sam Rockwell (born November 5, 1968) is an American actor. He is known for playing distressed police officer Jason Dixon in Martin McDonagh's crime drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The following year, he was nominated in the same category for portraying in Adam McKay's political satire Vice (2018). In 2019, he portrayed Bob Fosse in the FX biographical miniseries Fosse/Verdon, earning a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award, and in 2022, he received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the Broadway revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo. In the film, Nina Horus (voiced by Melissa Benoist) hunts the rabbit girl responsible for giving him mutant abilities and scarred physical appearance, becoming the anti-hero Deadlops (also known as Deadhopps). Following a greenlit from Universal Pictures in 2025-2026 after test footage for a potential film was leaked, principal photography took place Los Angeles, California, between March and May 2025 or 2026. Several vendors provided visual effects for the film, ranging from the addition of blood and gore to the creation of the CGI character Kolossas. With Universal Animation planning to release it in 2023, which was later delayed to 2024 and 2025, but it had finally been canceled by early 2020s. Walt Becker noted that the film's plot line was similar to the film of 20th Century Fox and Marvel's Deadpool (2016). Deadlops is will be scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on February 12, 2027, by Universal Pictures.
