Mel Cottonsworth lives in an orphanage with her siblings and best friends. One day, the orphanage goes on a fieldtrip to the nearby zoo in Central Park. They and his friends get separated from the other children, and are chased to Camp Half-Blood by a drakon, where they find out they are demigods.
After they are all claimed, by the most peculiar of parents, they end up on a quest to retrieve Zeus' Master Bolt and Hades' Helm of Darkness whilst fighting the accusations of being a traitor to the Camp.
