Roy's father, a Forest Ranger, died in a forest fire on an Navajo reservation when Roy was very young. Roy was then taken in by a Navajo medicine man named Brave Bow, because Roy's father had saved his life. Brave Bow taught Roy archery and marksmanship. who has a complex personality, and can be serious, impulsive, aggressive, violent, calm, balanced and patient. Unlike Green Arrow's relaxed and friendly disposition, Roy was much more serious and not at all tolerant of juvenile acts. He was fiery and ill-tempered. He also hated being called a sidekick and turned on anyone who called him that.
