Throughout the galaxy is an uncountable number of different species inhabiting thousands of planets in the 3600 sectors of space. The two biggest interstellar empires to date are the Thanagarian Empire and the Martians; The Kryptonians were also a large empire until their home planet was destroyed. The intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps patrol the entire galaxy for crime, but they also allow the planets and interplanetary empires to form their own peacekeeping forces. The Omega Guard is an elite fighting force protecting the entire galaxy, including the Thanagarians. The Thanagarian Empire has connections that span several planets, and each of the Omega Guardians hail from those planets.
