Metal Sonic has been chained up during the events of this movie after Metal Chaos III. But now seeing what his creator is doing to Mobius, he knows that he might be the only one who can stop him. Even if it means . . . helping Sonic. So, with all his might, Metal broke free of his chains and zoomed to Sonic's rescue just as fast as Sonic would for anybody. Metal Sonic and Metal Robotnik fought long and hard. The battle escalated to where they eventually reached a volcanic land where Sonic and his friends help Metal destroy Robotnik once and for all! But he, himself, got mortally injured in the process. Sonic tired to save him, but these were Metal's last words: "There is only one Sonic."
