Neo Metal Sonic has learned of Emerl's betrayal and seeks him out so he could destroy him. When he saw him again, Emerl told Sonic to get Mighty and Espio out of there after they were injured while he fought Neo over the Emerald. But due to a whole bunch of fatal wounds and falling debris by Neo, Emerl lost both the battle and the Chaos Emerald. Sonic ran back to find Emerl only to see he was dying. His last words were telling Sonic that it's been fun, Tails was strong, Knuckles is a good person, and asking Shadow if he was glad to be born. Then . . . Emerl was gone.
