Maria was the sweetest girl you'd ever meet. But when she was diagnosed with a chronic illness that couldn't be treated, her grandfather took her to the Space Colony ARK where it could possibly be treated. She was the first person to know that Shadow was good on the inside, despite how he looks. She was the only thing that could make Shadow smile, much less laugh. But sadly, when G.U.N. invaded the ARK, Maria died sending Shadow to Earth. Her death stuck to Shadow like glue for 50 years.
