Shadow is now free from the darkness of his past, with the events of Dawn of Shadow. He now sees Sonic and Tails as brothers but still keeps Maria's promise. He can't get the pain off, but he knows that Maria lives on in his heart and doings. Shadow was a bit hesitant about Blaze and Marine, thinking they could be lying just as Eggman was to him and Knuckles in the past. but eventually, they become his allies. The reason Rouge and Omega aren't around is that they're doing stuff with the newly reformed agency G.U.N. and are unable to help the team with Eggman Nega.
