You'd expect him to be the Sol variant of Eggman. right? Well, PSYCH!!!!!!!! He's actually Robotnik's own descendant from 300 years into the future, escaping one certain hedgehog that Sonic believes to be HIS descendant. Nega accidentally not only traveled to the past, but also into a different dimension, hence the Sol Dimension. If he can't rule the world in the future, he might as well use the power of the Sol Emeralds to destroy the past. He tells nobody this until the end when he perishes.
