Andrew Brion Hogan Goddard (born February 26, 1975) is an American screenwriter, director, and producer most closely associated with the horror genre. He began his career writing episodes for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Alias, and Lost. After moving into screenwriting in film, he wrote Cloverfield (2008), World War Z (2013), and The Martian (2015), the latter earning him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2011, he made his directorial debut with The Cabin in the Woods. In 2015, Goddard created the Netflix series Daredevil. Soon after, he directed several episodes of The Good Place. He served as an executive producer for 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) and The Cloverfield Paradox (2018), the next instalment in the Cloverfield franchise. It was announced in April 2024 that he would write and direct a new film in The Matrix franchise. Based on the eponymous video game. When he receives a letter from his late uncle Frederic, a rich and powerful lord, the young aristocrat Alistair McCallaghan does not expect to inherit a large estate and a manor which should provide him wealth and fame.
