Unlike most heroes of Earth-616, Miles Morales was not born in this universe. Miles originates from a branch timeline that split from Earth-616 years ago after a catastrophic superhuman conflict altered history. In his reality, several major heroes died much earlier than they should have, leading to a darker and more unstable world. Miles was bitten by a genetically altered spider and became Spider-Man following the death of his universe's Peter Parker. Forced to mature quickly, Miles spent years protecting his city without the guidance or support that many heroes enjoyed.
