At the Pierce's castle, John Constantine is drowning his grief over the death of King Jefferson, who he loved. His squire Timothy Drake comes to collect him for Anissa's coronation, but John refuses to go and reveals that he knows Timothy is one of Bruce's Robins. Timothy asks John why he told him about the magical assassin if he knew he was a spy, and John admits that, while he believes the Els are a danger to the world, he didn't want to start a war and hoped Timothy could prevent the assassination. He blasts Timothy out of his chamber and denounces him as a spy. Princess Jennifer wants to kill him but John tells her that Tim is just a pawn and asks her to spare him. Jennifer tells Tim to go home and tell Queen Lara that war is coming.
