Wilson Fisk may be behind bars, but his grip on New York has never been stronger. As the fallout from the Raft prison breakout floods the city with escaped criminals, Matt Murdock wages a relentless war on crime from two fronts - by day as an attorney seeking justice through the law, and by night as Daredevil, hunting the criminal empire that continues to thrive under the Kingpin's command. But before Fisk can be brought down, Daredevil must fight his way through the powerful syndicates now controlling New York's underworld, led by the deadly Bullseye, the returning Swordsman, and rising crime bosses Tombstone and Hammerhead. With Spider-Man swinging through the city to help contain the chaos New York's heroes find themselves stretched to their limits. Meanwhile, Elektra resurfaces, while the Punisher and mysterious Moon Knight emerge as ruthless vigilantes determined to ensure the escaped criminals never threaten the city again. As Matt's obsession with stopping Fisk consumes him, his personal life begins to crumble. Foggy Nelson and Karen Page watch their friend slowly disappear, unaware that every sleepless night pushes Daredevil closer to sacrificing the man beneath the mask. The war reaches its brutal climax as Spider-Man battles Tombstone across New York while Daredevil confronts Wilson Fisk in a savage final showdown. Though Matt finally defeats the Kingpin, the victory leaves both men broken and bloodied. Refusing to trust S.H.I.E.L.D. with the captured criminals, the heroes instead send them to the newly established Prison 42. But Matt's greatest battle awaits at home. Staggering through his apartment door battered and barely standing, he comes face-to-face with a horrified Foggy Nelson, who finally discovers the truth. Some secrets can save a city. Others destroy a friendship.
