Charlie Thomas Cox (born 15 December 1982) is an English actor. He is known for portraying Matt Murdock / Daredevil in seven projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading the television series Daredevil (2015–2018) and Daredevil: Born Again (2025–present). Cox portrayed Owen Sleater in the second and third seasons of HBO's Boardwalk Empire (2011–2012) and Jonathan Hellyer Jones in the 2014 film The Theory of Everything. He starred in the RTÉ drama series Kin (2021–2023) and the Netflix spy miniseries Treason (2022). Cox's breakout role was as Tristan Thorn in the 2007 fantasy film Stardust, one of several roles he had in predominantly British productions during the first decade of his career. He made his West End debut the following year in a revival of the Harold Pinter plays The Lover and The Collection. Following his successes on-screen in the 2010s, he acted in a 2019 stage production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal, first in the West End and then on Broadway. He would later make his video game debut in 2025 as Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. In “Daredevil: Born Again”, the soft reboot series of Daredevil now integrated into the MCU, after Karen Page moves to another city to follow her dream of being an actress and Foggy Nelson becomes a lawyer in Los Angeles, Matt Murdock faces monumental challenges, as he at the same time as he has a new work partner. When the ruthless Kingpin, Wilson Fisk, decides to run for mayor of New York, Matt investigates Fisk's true intentions and comes across Fisk's enormous desire to discover the identity of Daredevil (the demon of Hell's Kitchen) and eliminate him. This makes the people of New York believe that he, Daredevil, is responsible for the growing number of deaths in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, with the help of Bullseye. To try to stop Wilson Fisk and his newest ally, Matt will count on the help of an old partner who is back in New York, Frank Castle, where he believes that Fisk is responsible for the death of his family. The series is a connection to Spider-Man 4 where Matt is unable to stop him and Fisk is now elected mayor of his city
