Based on the video game and anime, Makoto Naegi is an "Ultimate" an Ultimate is something someone is very good at and Makoto has won the lottery and gotten the title "Ultimate Lucky Student" and know is able to participate to Hope's Peak Academy, a high school for Ultimates. When going there, Makoto blacks out and later wakes up, and is introduced to the other 14 students though soon finds out that the principal Monokuma forces them to kill eachother and in class trials they must found out who is the murderer.
