Equally headstrong, Susan had been feeling like Aaron does not love her back due to his bad decisions in financials and feeling distant. Not helped by her feeling distant as well as she began to doubt her marriage and wondered if she had ever loved him at all. Her attitude further soured when the mix up trip happened when instead of the Bahamas, it was Mexico. Which prompted a lot of hurtful arguments between the two and further soured her on Aaron. After being roped into with the scientific crew and encountering the Gill Man in which she has found herself falling in love with such a creature as the monster only kills in self defense and found herself sympathetic towards the monster. In the end, the love wasn't meant to be as after her husband not only rescues her but also the Gill Man but the monster sacrifices himself and ensured he just wants her to be happy and even wanted her to rekindle her love with her husband in the event the Gill Man dies.
