The story kicks off with Dr. Neo Cortex (Peter Dinklage), a brilliant yet tyrannical scientist who, consumed by envy of his more acclaimed peers, conducts illegal experiments on animals to build a powerful army. His latest, and most ambitious, experiment involves transferring his own intelligence into a genetically modified marsupial hoping to make him a great general. But when the experiment fails spectacularly, the marsupial, Crash, escapes the lab. Cortex is left disfigured, with yellowish skin and an "N" marked on his forehead, which was located on the helmet of his experimental device. Also affecting his brain, he becomes even more N. Sane than normal. His younger sister Coco and his girlfriend Tawna are held captive by Cortex for some time, used as guinea pigs in his cruel experiments. Knowing this Crash teams up with Angie Jansen (Millie Bobby Brown), a fearless explorer who crosses his path during a safari on Wumpa Island. With the help of Aku Aku, a mystical mask with ancient wisdom and magical powers, Crash and Rubin set out on a daring quest across the island. They navigate perilous landscapes, face off against Cortex’s monstrous creations, and unravel the secrets behind Cortex's dark plans.
