After Derice Bannock fails to compete in the sprinting team, he turns to bobsledding, gets help from a bookie named, Irv Blitzer to get a chance to redeems himself after cheating at the 1972 Sapporo olympics and is joined his best friend, Sanka Coffie, Junior Bevil, and Yul Brenner to head to compete at the Calgary Winter Games in 1988.
