Gwyneth Kate Paltrow (/ˈpæltroʊ/ PAL-troh; born September 27, 1972) is an American actress and businesswoman. The daughter of filmmaker Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner, she established herself as a leading lady, appearing primarily in mid-budget and period films during the 1990s and early 2000s, before transitioning to blockbusters and franchises. Her accolades include an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. Paltrow gained notice for her early work in films such as Seven (1995), Emma (1996), Sliding Doors (1998), and A Perfect Murder (1998). She garnered wider acclaim for her role as Viola de Lesseps in the historical romance Shakespeare in Love (1998), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Cinderella is the only daughter of a widowed gentleman, a good and loving father who feels like his daughter needs a mother's attention. Thinking so, he remarries, choosing for his second wife Lady Tremaine, a widow of an old acquaintance, from a good family with two daughters of the same age as her: Drizella and Anastasia. After Cinderella's father dies unexpectedly, Lady Tremaine is revealed to be a cruel and selfish woman, who is only interested in the well-being and future of her daughters. Cinderella becomes the servant and cook in her own house, where she is humiliated and mistreated by her family. Despite this, Cinderella continues to be a kind and gentle girl, to the point of becoming friends with the mice and birds that live around the house.
