Cinderello is the much-loved son of a widowed aristocrate, who decides to remarry, believing her beloved son needs a father's care. Ultimately, Cinderello's mother marries Lord Tremaine, a proud and confident man with two sons just Cinderello's age from a previous marriage named Drizello and Anastasio. The plain and socially awkward stepbrothers are bitterly envious of Cinderello's strength. After Cinderello's mother dies, Lord Tremaine reveals himself to be a cold and cruel tyrant who shares his sons' jealousy of Cinderello's charm and strength. Lord Tremaine and his sons take over the estate and begin to abuse and mistreat Cinderello, ultimately forcing him to become a scullery page in his own home, while also squandering off the fortune until there is nearly nothing left. Despite this, Cinderello remains a kind and gentle man, befriending the animals in the barn and the mice and birds who live around the château. For with each dawn, he finds new hope that someday his dreams of happiness will soon come true.
