In my mind, Amy's character would be similar to Princess Peach's in the Mario movie, that "warrior girl" vibe rather than a "damsel in distress" who at first hates Sonic but then starts to like him, also she could also have this backstory to why she's alone kind of like how we saw Knuckles backstory in the second movie.
