Edward is a blue mixed-traffic tender engine. Edward runs his own branch line with BoCo in Wellsworth, where he later moved to upon leaving Tidmouth Sheds. Edward is one of the oldest engines on Sodor and is occasionally chastised for his age. Despite this, he is wise, optimistic, and clever, spreading his knowledge and encouraging other engines. Edward also used to work with Harold at the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre pulling out trains who have derailed. Edward was the first character created for the Railway Series.
