Zachary Edward Snyder (born March 1, 1966) is an American filmmaker. He made his feature film debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name. Since then, he has directed or produced a number of comic book and superhero films, including 300 (2006) and Watchmen (2009), as well as the Superman film that started the DC Extended Universe, Man of Steel (2013), and its follow-ups, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), the latter of which had a director's cut released in 2021. He also directed the animated film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010), the psychological action film Sucker Punch (2011), the zombie heist film Army of the Dead (2021), and the two-part space opera films Rebel Moon (2023) and Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver (2024). In 2004, he founded the production company The Stone Quarry (formerly known as Cruel and Unusual Films) alongside his wife Deborah Snyder and producing partner Wesley Coller. Steven Cooper, a detective who suffers from PTSD, deals every day with terroristic attacks committed by the Yellow-eyed Shadows, a group of mind-controlled assassins. He finds out that the mind control method is an evolution of the original MKultra, a method used by CIA which involves drugs like heroin, but this time, it includes a new drug named Exitium. Him, an ex-spy named Brandon Lucas, a detective named Ryan Harris, and a schizophrenic ex-military named Jack Myers, are part of a team for the sole purpose of killing the Yellow-eyed Shadows. At the same time, they have to investigate on the death of Steven's wife, Jennifer Cooper, and one of the main suspects is the sheriff Andrew Clarke.
