Casting Shadows
Drama, Comedy, Social Commentary
"Casting Shadows" follows the journey of Darius Kane, a 35-year-old Black actor who has unexpectedly become Hollywood’s go-to choice for roles that were traditionally written for white male leads. From action-packed blockbusters to romantic comedies to high-concept sci-fi epics, Darius lands roles that come with enormous expectations, rampant criticism, and systemic racism. The irony? Every project he stars in becomes a commercial and critical success, making him a phenomenon in the entertainment industry. The show explores Darius’ resilience as he navigates the backlash, confronts Hollywood stereotypes, and redefines what it means to be a leading man. Blending humor, heartfelt moments, and sharp social commentary, "Casting Shadows" takes a hilarious yet poignant look at race, representation, and the entertainment industry in a way that’s never been done before.
