Sensitive teen boy Carey White faces taunting from classmates at school and abuse from his fanatically pious father at home. When strange occurrences start happening around Carey, he begins to suspect that he has supernatural powers. Invited to the prom by the empathetic Tori Ross, Carrie tries to let his guard down, but things eventually take a dark and violent turn.
