After losing her memories, she is taken in by the Kree and becomes a member of Starforce, a group of elite warriors. Known as Vers, she fights in the Kree-Skrull war, believing the Skrulls are the enemy. When a mission goes wrong, Carol crash-lands on Earth and begins to uncover fragments of her forgotten past. With the help of Nick Fury, she discovers her true identity as Carol Danvers and learns that the Kree have been manipulating her all along. As she regains her memories, Carol realizes that the Skrulls are not the villains she was led to believe, and she sides with them to protect Earth from the Kree’s true intentions. Carol fully embraces her powers, becoming Captain Marvel, and fights back against the Kree forces. She helps the Skrulls find a new home and leaves Earth to explore the universe, but not before forming a bond with Fury, who begins to understand the cosmic threats facing the planet. Fury is inspired by her heroism, laying the groundwork for the Avengers Initiative.
