The movie follows Dr. Walter Lawson, secretly the Kree hero Mar-Vell, on a mission to protect Earth. When his former mentor Yon-Rogg seeks to exploit an ancient Kree artifact, Lawson teams up with pilot Carol Danvers. During a confrontation, Carol is exposed to the artifact's energies, unlocking her latent powers. Together, as Captain Marvel and Carol Danvers, they face Yon-Rogg and his forces to prevent catastrophe.
