John Paul Cusack (born June 28, 1966) is an American actor. Cusack began acting in films during the 1980s, starring in coming-of-age dramedies such as Sixteen Candles (1984), Better Off Dead (1985), The Sure Thing (1985), Stand by Me (1986), and Say Anything... (1989). In the 1990s, he then started appearing in independent films and had leading men roles in Bullets Over Broadway (1994), Con Air (1997), Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), The Thin Red Line (1998), Being John Malkovich (1999), High Fidelity (2000), America's Sweethearts (2001), Max (2002), and Runaway Jury (2003). Cusack has been nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe for his role starring in High Fidelity. He won the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Maps to the Stars. He is a son of filmmaker Dick Cusack and the younger brother of actors Bill, Joan and Ann Cusack. In 2012, Cusack was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In the small town of Harland, Illinois, Candace Buckley, a 24 year old girl who lives in a small town with her friend and carer, Frederick. She realises her life is boring when meeting her friend and mentor Eugene. She works with him to experience true adventure, but it isn't enough. When Eugene dies and Frederick meets his new friend, Alexander, Candace decides to face another adventure in his name, while Frederick and Alexander chase after her with the help of Officer Russell, openly defying Chief Gardner, who dies in the end. They eventually catch Candace, bringing her home. After, Alexander mentions to Frederick about how Candace is yearning for adventure, the three travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she meets a man named Derek, who she falls in love with, and eventually kidnaps her. Frederick and Alexander enlist the help of Howard, a donut store owner, and Carlos, a specialist who they deem useless. They eventually find out their location at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Howard nearly dies in a showdown, where Carlos saves their lives, killing Derek. They quietly return back to Harland. In season 4, Candace's parents, Richard and Alia, come down, enlisting the help of Dr. Vergil, a psychologist who Candace despises. When she breaks free, she goes after him, but is stopped by Frederick and Alexander. Realising there is nothing they can do, they turn Candace in to the now Chief Russell. She ominously escapes ten years later, tracking down Frederick and Alexander.
