Cadence Yamatto is an orphaned teenager and her twin sister, Rumi Yamatto, who loves ballet, just like their mother, a former ballerina. She and her friends Hannah and Odessa, as well as Cadence's love interest, Cillian Jones, must travel to France to participate in Ballerina 2025, which will be held in France as the competition's host city. She must overcome her rival, Tracie, a popular and spoiled ballerina, to become a successful ballerina. In the end, Cadence becomes the adopted daughter of her French husband, who is a ballet instructor and the show's host.
