Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, between 2008 and 2010, Breaking Bad follows Walter White, a prestigious college science student who becomes a ruthless player in the local methamphetamine trade, driven by the desire to provide for his family after of being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Initially making only small batches of meth with his former partner Jesse Pinkman in a mobile meth lab, Walter and Jesse eventually branch out to make larger batches of a special blue meth that is incredibly pure and creates high demand. Walter takes the name "Heisenberg" to mask his identity. At the same time, a law student Saul Goodman formerly known as Jimmy McGill helps them.
