Richie is the protagonist of the story. Grieving over the death of his parents, he moves to the big city to live with his grandmother Iris. He's quite egocentric at first, believing himself to be better than everyone else, but when he discovers that they want to close his grandmother's gym, he's willing to change for the good of his team and train them to win the BMR.
