The Chinese pangolin is a pangolin native to the northern Indian subcontinent, northern parts of Southeast Asia and southern China. The Chinese pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) is a small to medium sized mammal, reaching a total length of about 90 cm, and a weight of 3–5 kg, but individuals may weigh more than 8 kg.
While its range overlaps with that of the Sunda pangolin, these species can be distinguished by the number of scale rows across the back, the relative length of the claws on their forelimbs, and by the length and shape of the tail, being shorter and blunter in the Chinese pangolin.
