Following the death of Dan Garret, Ted Kord becomes the definitive Blue Beetle, a mantle he shared alongside Dan for quite a time. He soon meets Booster Gold, a superhuman from the 25th Century. The two become close partners and start a crime fighting business together. Their first gig involves bringing down the mad scientist known as the Ultra-Humanite, who was once a frail old man who transferred his mind into a white gorilla.
