Overjoyed by his experience with the Justice League, young Mexican-American Jaime Reyes heads back to his home "El Paso" to live with his family. Whilst being under the protection his mentor Bruce Wayne, Jaime starts to embrace the identity of the "Blue Beetle". He also strives to get back to his regular daily activities, yet he is side-tracked by thoughts of demonstrating that he is more than merely a extra-terrestrial armoured superhero. Things get more complicated for Jaime when the villainous "Doctor Alchemy" emerges from the shadows to destroy all the people he holds dear.
