In 1030 C.E., King Aldrin Seraphin changed the course of Sundaril forever. He reached out to their nation’s greatest enemy, Liston, with a simple offer: a princess for a princess. “A dual marriage will tie the primary branches of our royal families together,” he explained. “It would make hurting the other like hurting yourself.” His display of faith? His favorite sister, Ophelia, offered as a bride to Liston’s Crown Prince. But not everyone was keen on the idea of peace between the nations. Some of the nobility sneered at the plan in the shadows, finding it would hurt their own interests abroad or because it chafed their own dislike and distrust of the Listonese. Others were firmly on King Aldrin Seraphin’s side, believing that this dual marriage was a sure way to end the animosity for the coming generations and allow Sundaril to focus on far more important things. In September 1030 C.E., Princess Alys Howard arrived on Sundaril’s shores, destined to become King Aldrin’s bride and Sundaril’s new queen.
