David Kenneth Harbour (born April 10, 1975) is an American actor. He has received nominations for a Tony Award, a Golden Globe Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. David began his career acting in Shakespearean theatre productions. After his professional debut on Broadway in the 1999 revival of The Rainmaker, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in a production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. He made his television debut on Law & Order in 1999 and had supporting roles in films such as Brokeback Mountain (2005), Revolutionary Road (2008) and Black Mass (2015). Harbour gained global recognition for his portrayal of Jim Hopper in the Netflix science fiction series Stranger Things (2016–2025), for which he received a Critics' Choice Television Award as well as nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards. His starring film roles include the title character in Hellboy (2019), Santa Claus in Violent Night (2022) and a former racer in the sports film Gran Turismo (2023). Harbour has played Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe media franchise, beginning with the film Black Widow (2021). After receiving an offer from Nick Fury, Natasha Romanoff became a SHIELD agent. But before that, before becoming a mercenary, she was Natasha Romanova, an orphan in Russia, chosen to be part of the Red Room. A program that created orphans into lethal weapons. During her childhood and youth, Natasha learned the art of seduction, assassination, and blending in, becoming a perfect assassin, the most lethal and dangerous woman, not only in Russia, but in the entire world. Sent all over the world to carry out various missions, from robbery and espionage to assassination, Natasha gained fame and recognition under the codename Black Widow. However, after a mission that led to the death of three children, she begins to question her entire life, making her question everything she has done. This leads her to investigate the organization and her past more deeply, discovering that Ivan Petrovitch, her adoptive father, was killed years before while trying to rescue her from the organization. This causes her to turn against the Red Room, against the life she knew. Natasha has to face not only the leaders of the organization, which includes her own husband, Alexei Shostakov, the Red Guardian, but also other girls like her, such as Melina Vostokoff, who had a difficult relationship with Natasha. But no one, nothing will stop Natasha from destroying the Red Room, not even if she loses her life in the process.
