Gaia, also known as Mother Nature or Mother Earth, is the female Spirit of Earth, responsible for preserving peace, harmony, and life on the planet. She lives on Hope Island, and is also the creator of Captain Planet, as well as the mentor to her five young chosen Planeteers, aka the "teenage dupes".[3]
