Vatsala was a beloved, tuskless female Asian elephant, believed to be Asia's oldest, who lived over 100 years and passed away in India's Panna Tiger Reserve in July 2025. Known as "Dadi Maa" (grandmother) for her nurturing role with younger elephants, she was a vital part of the reserve's tiger tracking, assisting staff and becoming a cherished matriarch before succumbing to old-age ailments.
