Thomas the Cat King (portrayed by Lukas Gage) is a character from the Netflix series Dead Boy Detectives (2024-). Cat King is a charming trickster, feline-human hybrid and itinerant cat spirit, who takes a keen interest in Edwin Payne. When Thomas doesn’t hold the appearance of a handsome man full of entitlement or holding court with his subjects he can be seen strutting around town as an attractive Siamese cat. Cats in the world of Dead Boy Detectives can talk and are protected by Cat King, a seductive shape-shifter with nine lives. Mischievous as ever, Cat King has (cat) eyes everywhere and is aware of Edwin’s affection for Charles. So he wears Charles’ socks the first time he meets Edwin. Then, when he gets Edwin alone, Cat King wears low-slung pants that reveal his underwear. They are red (Charles’ signature color) and say “Loverboy” on the waistband. The shape-shifter is an agent of supernatural chaos packaged in both flesh and fur, depending on which form you find him. This is one feline who enjoys playing with his prey.
