Katherine "Kate" Kane was an ex-military soldier and the vigilante known as Batwoman. Kate joined the military and was expelled for unknown reasons. Her life then took a downward spiral, engaging in drugs, sex, and crossing paths with a tough crowd. One night, Kate was ambushed by a street gang, only to be saved by the Batman. Instead of showing gratitude, she pushed him away, as she felt at the time needed nobody to help her. Two years later, Kate emerged as the vigilante known as Batwoman. Kate is a strong headed woman, not taking any belittlement from others. She is also very prideful, not wanting another man to rescue her as Batman did.
