Fan Casting Miguel Cruz in Behind Concrete Walls

Occupation before incarceration: Delivery driver / community-college student Current status: Inmate at Blackridge State Prison Miguel grew up in a working-class Southern California family. His mother worked as a medical assistant, while his father owned a small auto-repair business. He was the first member of his immediate family to attend college. He was studying criminal justice part-time while working delivery jobs to help support himself. His life changed when he was arrested for an armed robbery that ended in a homicide. Miguel had been in the vicinity that night but insists he had nothing to do with the crime. A combination of circumstantial evidence, unreliable testimony, and poor legal representation resulted in his conviction.
