Lucas Stephen Grabeel (born November 23, 1984) is an American actor, singer, dancer, songwriter, director and producer. He is also famous for his role as Ryan Evans in Disney Channel Original Movie's 2006 High School Musical and its sequels, High School Musical 2 (2007) and High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008), and as Ethan Dalloway in the third and fourth installments of the Halloweentown series, Halloweentown High (2004), and Return to Halloweentown (2006). In 2006, Lucas played a young Lex Luthor in a flashback episode of Smallville, and he has recently returned to the show, currently in its 10th and final season in the role of Connor Kent, the hybrid clone of Lex Luthor and Clark Kent and the future Superboy.
In the prologue, as told through stain-glass windows, a selfish French princess is visited by an old beggar man who offers to give her a rose if she provides him with shelter, but the princess refused on account of his hideous appearance and also blows him off again when he warns her not to judge people by looks. The man is revealed to be a magical sorcerer who curses the princess by turning her into a hideous-looking beasty and also curses her castle and its inhabitants. The rose is revealed to be enchanted and it will bloom until her 21st birthday and wilt away, which will cement the transformation unless the Beasty finds some man to love and earn his love in return. A decade later, in a small town, a handsome bookworm boy named Beau is seen as strange by the townsfolks. The popular town hunteress, Gastonia lusts after him, but Beau tries to avoid her because of her arrogance. Beau's mom, Mauricia is also an outcast among the townsfolk due to her erratic inventions.
