Armed with his fierce will and sharpened instincts, he dives headfirst into a realm of twisted conspiracies, emerging in the shadows as the vigilante soon known only by a single, chilling moniker: Batman. Meanwhile, Detective Jim Gordon—newly assigned to Gotham’s morally bankrupt police force—struggles to remain honorable in a city where justice is bought and sold, and every friend could be a foe in disguise. Bound by a shared thirst for truth but divided by the law, Batman and Gordon find themselves on a collision course when a rash of grisly murders rocks the underworld. As they peel back the city’s layers of deceit, both men risk losing themselves to the darkness that wages war on Gotham’s soul. This is Year One, a haunting tale of grim resolve and desperate hope—where innocence is fleeting, redemption is elusive, and a fledgling hero discovers that the night can hide a thousand secrets…including his own.
