With the positive reception of Batman: White Knight, Sean Murphy and the execs at Warner Bros. decided to greenlight a series called Batman: White Knight Presents which would serve as an anthology delving into the supporting characters of the "Murphyverse" as well as provide world building. The first episode would center on Victor Fries and his difficult childhood during World War II and his connection to Thomas Wayne.
